INTRODUCTION
Khao Lak,
located
about 100 km
north of
Phuket, is
one of the
most
tranquil
beach
destinations
in Thailand.
Located in
the Takua Pa
disctrict of
Phang Nga
province,
Khao Lak
offers a
lovely
coastline
facing
westwards
with miles
of sandy
beaches ,
embraced by
tropical
hills
sloping down
beyond the
sand. That
is where the
name Khao
Lak has come
to be known
as "the
mountain
beside the
sea".
There are
many activities
and attractions
in Khao Lak that
would serve
joyfully to the
holidaymakers.
Apart from
swimming in the
clear sea water,
travelers can
enjoy live
aboard scuba
diving to the
newly evolved
underworld sea.
In contrast,
ones can
experience
nature tours
such as elephant
trekking,
rafting and
hiking in the
unspoilt
National Parks
and to the
temple caves.
KHAO LAK BEACH
Khao Lak Beach is well known for tourists who
love to stay in a remotely area because the
beach is very quiet and no bars or entertainment
close to the beach. Tourists can also get to
Similan and Surin Islands by chartered boats
leave from Thap Lamu Pier in Thai Muang District
(30 minutes from Khao Lak beach) and take about
3 hours to reach the islands.
